Ahmedabad. A strong tremor was felt in Gujarat at 8.13 pm on Sunday. The 5.3 magnitude earthquake, which had an AP center near Vondh village near Bhachau in Kutch, shook not only Kutch but the whole of Saurashtra including Rajkot, Morbi as well as parts of North Gujarat including Patan and Becharaji. The tremors were felt as far away as Ahmedabad and Vadodara for a few seconds. However, no casualties or property damage have been reported so far. The quake also reminded of the fear of a 7.7 magnitude earthquake on January 26, 2001 near the AP center near Bhachau. The quake, which struck at 8.46 am, killed at least 14,000 people.

As the epicenter was near Bhachau, the worst tremor was felt in Kutch district. A 5.3 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter at Vondh village near Bhachau shook the land of Kutch for 10 seconds. Three aftershocks were felt in Saurashtra, including Rajkot and Morbi. The quake lasted for 7 seconds with a magnitude of 4.8 and in Patan and Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad with a magnitude of 3.4 for 5 seconds. Vadodara also felt a mild tremor for three to four seconds with a magnitude of 2.4.

More impact in Rajkot district, Dhara Dhruji for 7 to 8 seconds in Morbi
The worst affected area is Rajkot district. Shock has been felt in Jetpur, Virpur (Jalaram), Dhoraji, Upleta, Jamkandora of the district. This led to a renewed wave of anxiety among the people. There were two tremors in the district at 8 am and 14 minutes. While in Morbi there was a tremor for 7 to 8 seconds. While the wall in Upleta has collapsed. The tremors were felt in Morbi with the same intensity.

Earlier on June 6, a magnitude 4.8 earthquake also shook North Gujarat
Earlier, on June 6, a magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook the region of North Gujarat, including Banaskantha district. Even at that time, tremors were felt in Banaskantha district for 10 seconds. However, the quake did not affect the surrounding districts at that time. There were no casualties or damage to property.

The Chief Minister interacted with the District Collectors and instructed them to remain vigilant
Following the quake, Chief Minister Rupani had an immediate telephone conversation with the district collectors of Rajkot, Kutch and Patan to get information about the situation. The Chief Minister urged the collectors to remain vigilant and instructed them to get the details of any minor or major damage caused by these shocks. The Chief Minister also suggested that the control rooms of the Disaster Management Cell be made more intensive in these distric

The shock was also felt in Jamnagar, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar
Apart from this, strong tremors were also felt in Jamnagar, Junagadh, Bhavnagar and high-rise buildings were shaken. While in Surendranagar, Halwad, Patan also an earthquake has occurred. Even in Patan district, people in the villages felt the shock of the earthquake and rushed out of their homes.

People in Rajkot city scared still on the road
People rushed out of their houses in various parts of Rajkot city after the quake. People who were more experienced in tall buildings were terrified and are still standing on the road.

Upstairs in the flat in Ahmedabad felt more, people ran out
Panic spread among the people in Ahmedabad when the quake hit and people rushed out of the house. People living upstairs in the flat have more experience. Intensity of around 3 has been recorded in Ahmedabad.
